Mouse Sensor DPI Deviation & True CPI Benchmark
Factory 800 or 1600 DPI ratings often vary by 2% to 8% due to sensor lens distance and aftermarket mouse skate thickness. Measure your true CPI and get 1:1 sensitivity compensation.

Click the capture zone above with a physical ruler placed next to your mousepad. Measuring your actual sensor CPI eliminates aim discrepancies when switching mousepads or mice.
๐ Why Does Mouse DPI Differ From What the Software Says?
Focal Length & Lens Distance
Optical gaming sensors (PixArt PAW3395, Focus Pro 3950, HERO 2) image the surface through a micro-lens. If the sensor sits 0.1mm higher or lower from the pad surface than calibrated at the factory, the optical magnification changes. A higher sensor decreases CPI, while a lower sensor increases CPI.
Mouse Skate Thickness
Upgrading from 0.6mm stock PTFE skates to 0.85mm aftermarket skates or Superglide glass skates raises the mouse body. This routinely shifts your true sensitivity by 3% to 6%, throwing off muscle memory unless compensated in your in-game sensitivity.
