Frequently Asked Questions

What is monitor frame skipping?

Frame skipping occurs when a display accepts a higher refresh rate signal (e.g., 75Hz instead of native 60Hz, or 165Hz instead of 144Hz) from the GPU, but the monitor's internal scaler hardware drops every 5th or 10th frame. Although Windows reports 75Hz, the perceived motion is actually choppier than native 60Hz.

How do I take the test photo with my phone camera?

Point your smartphone camera at this screen and take a photo using Night Mode or Pro Mode with a shutter speed of 1/5 second to 1/10 second. A successful overclock shows a continuous, uninterrupted line of illuminated white blocks. If there are dark gaps between blocks, your monitor is skipping frames.

Is frame skipping dangerous for my monitor?

Frame skipping will not destroy your monitor, but it invalidates the overclock, causing micro-stuttering and ghosting artifacts. If skipped frames appear in your photo, revert your refresh rate to factory default.
