๐ŸŽ›๏ธ Windows 11 Calibration Recipe:

In the Windows HDR Calibration app: Set Black Level to 0 (minimum), Maximum Luminance slider to 1000 Nits, Max Full Frame to 250 Nits, and Color Saturation to 0. Enable Auto HDR for vibrant older games.

๐Ÿ“– Why Does "HDR 400" Look Bad on PC Monitors?

The Local Dimming Requirement

True HDR requires high dynamic rangeโ€”the distance between the darkest black and brightest white. DisplayHDR 400 monitors have zero local dimming zones; when an explosion appears, the entire edge backlight cranks to maximum, turning black letterbox bars and dark corridors into milky washed-out gray. True HDR begins at Mini-LED (FALD) or OLED.

What Is HGiG Mode?

HGiG (HDR Gaming Interest Group) instructs your monitor to stop tone-mapping internally and let the game engine output exact pixel brightness. This eliminates "double tone-mapping", preventing cloud textures in games from blowing out into overexposed pure white blocks.
