Frequently Asked Questions
How does the 16-team Swiss Tournament system work in CS2 and LoL?
Teams are paired based on their current win-loss record (e.g. 1-0 teams play 1-0 teams, 1-2 teams play 1-2 teams). A team that wins 3 matches qualifies for the Champions/Playoffs Stage, while a team that loses 3 matches is eliminated.
What is the Buchholz system used in esports tournaments?
The Buchholz tiebreaker calculates the sum of all matches won by the opponents a team has played against. Playing against tougher opponents who win their matches rewards you with a higher Buchholz score, determining your seeding advantage in later rounds.
Can I use this for community and clan tournaments?
Yes! You can rename all 16 teams to your community or clan rosters and simulate fair, non-elimination early rounds where every team gets to play at least 3 matches before being knocked out.
